For over 30 years, our expertise has been in manufacturing high-quality cabinets and casework for large commercial projects, including businesses, laboratories, schools, medical facilities, and hotels/timeshares. When we launched our first line of garage cabinets in 2004, we brought the same commitment to durability and quality, using materials like ¾” M2 Industrial-Grade Melamine, which we had relied on for our commercial cabinets.
In the woodworking industry, “melamine” refers to a highly durable material with a core made from sustainably sourced wood chips combined with resin. This process creates a board that is exceptionally flat, consistent, and stable, with a smooth, moisture-resistant, and easy-to-clean surface.
The core of melamine is often referred to as particle board, but not all particle board is created equal. Like many products, particle board quality ranges from low-grade to high-performance. Unfortunately, some companies prioritize cost over quality, using inferior materials that have given particle board an undeserved reputation. At GarageCabinets.com, we are committed to using only the highest quality melamine, ensuring strength, reliability, and long-term performance.

Our Melamine: Made in the USA
All our melamine is proudly manufactured in Grayling, Michigan, USA by Arauco, one of the most advanced and sophisticated manufacturing facilities in the world. Their cutting-edge processes ensure the highest quality standards, resulting in a superior product that meets the demands of a garage environment.
Chip Profile is one of the many factors that separates a low quality board from a high quality board. Chip Profile is made up of the type of wood and the shape of the chip. Long thin chips make a stronger board.
